The Green Wave blog is a small part of Internet history today.
Writers from across the globe today are posting on more than 7,400 blogs information and commentary on climate change as part of Blog Action Day.

Oh what a difference a year makes.
Not too long ago, the federal government’s collective response to the threat of global warming was “Huh? What climate change? Everything is fine.”
As daily news reports attest, everything is not so hunky-dory on the environmental front.

Satellite images and the latest reports show the extent to which the polar ice caps are melting. Something is happening to the earth and no amount of nay-saying and denial is going to make it stop. Rising sea levels, shifting weather patterns that turn green lands into arid deserts and the extinction of numerous animal species are among the dangers facing the planet if we aren’t able to reverse the climate change being fueled by the greenhouse gases emitted by our factories, airplanes and cars.

Is it, in fact, too late to change the course the planet is on? I’m not sure. But I do know that we should do everything we can to reduce the air pollution contributing to global warming.

It all begins with the individual. Lobby political leaders to do more to fight this threat. Look for ways to make your home more energy-efficient. With manufacturer and federal incentives available, there’s no better time than now to get Energy Star appliances, improve your home’s insulation and invest in clean energy such as solar power. They don’t call this the Sunshine State for nothing.

If you have a gas guzzler, trade it in for a model that gets at least 10 more miles per gallon. There are scores of fuel efficient cars out there that are perfectly safe, and are stylish to boot.

Ask local “green” experts what else you can do to go green. With the planet’s future at stake, there’s no better time than today to take action.
Future generations will be glad you did.
